Does anyone know how to make this type of Alpha bracelets?

A theory that I have is that the background string is replaced with another string when making a detail in another color. Note that the pink thread is not a part of the start or end (in the front bracelet).

I think the pink thread is later inserted and the ends satured with the other threads. I made one of these bracelets half year ago - a monkey in black with a yellow banana and green background. It's not so difficult, but it's cheated.

But you can do the alpha-patterns with more than two colors in the way that you switch the threads to become another color. You need a good plan before starting the bracelet, that's all.
