I just made a normal pattern (I REALLY wanted a border on a pattern so I made my own) and ran into this generator issue.

I made sure the colored strings aligned the same way at the bottom, BUT the actual colors were different. When I tried to save the pattern, I got the message "the generator only accepts repeating patterns..." and to make sure the ordering of the strings at the bottom corresponds to the ordering at the top.

So I had to extend the pattern until the colors matched again, which resulted in twice as many rows as it actually needs. Has anyone else had this problem? I've seen lots of patterns where the colors don't match exactly at the bottom, but the pattern still repeats just fine (ignore colors and follow knots, yep, I know).

Would appreciate any insight or tips on how to make my next pattern exactly as long as it needs to be :) Thanks!

the old generator allowed patterns to start and end with a different string order, but the new one doesn't :-)
