Ran out of string? by Lissy 14 years ago

so, i kinda ran out of string on the bracelet i'm making.
is there any way that i can add new string to it?
if i tie it on, it makes a bump in the bracelet where the knot is.

I don't make a knot with the new thread. I put the new thread behind my bracelet and fasten it with tape. Then I just start knotting with it. I put the old thread away. After you knot a few rows with the new thread, you can cut the old off.

Hope this make sense. It's hard to explain in English ^^

I know some people who hot glue the new string onto the back, but Cathelijn's method probably works better :)

Cathelijn, if you just cut off the threads, isn't there a chance that the connecting knots will loose up? I suggest including the loose ends in a nearby knot, then they will be locked!

Yea, I understand your problem. I've tried this a few times and it works for me.

But you can also knot the new thread around the old thread and the normal thread you should make a knot with. And then put the old one away. After a few rows, cut the old one. Did you mean something like this Stefan?

Yes, I think so :)
