I don't know if the diagram and the actual pattern match. The colours of the centre of the spiral are meant to alternate, but all I am getting is a Y shape of colour S, a ring of colour L with S in the middle, repeating. Am I doing something wrong?

it wont repeat correctly if you dont do a backward forward knot in the center of the O shape. maybe thats your problem??

No, I am sure I am following it exactly. I will take a photo as soon as I can, my boyfriend misplaced it. It turned out really nice anyway, just not like the diagram at all.
