how do you read the generator pattern?

I'm trying to create two letters in my pattern and still hasn't been approved but I want to start on it already but I dont know how to read the pattern like how do I know which one goes on top and to which side? so confusing... |

If you're just looking for plain letters try using the name generate instead, it maps out every knot for you |

yes, thanks that seems better but now the problem is I dont know how do you make those knots? I have just made the pattern ones but never the ones going side or to the bottom? I try looking for videos on how but no one uses them... |
