i've been adding some favorites lately and it keeps saying "error saving favorites" but then the fav button says unfav (and has the broken heart)

When you go to your favorites, are the patterns you wanted to add there?
If so, the error message is just a server error.
If not, do you think you possibly have TOO many favorites?
