I don't know what this pattern is, I've seen it called Carnival, but I couldn't find any instructions. It looks like sleeping tikis to me, but it could also be 'shaded medallions' or peacock feathers. This bracelet is very stunning if you do a gradual 'fade', like white through purple to black or yellow through green to blue.

Materials and Set Up

16 strings, 2 each of 8 colors OR
8 strings, 1 of each color, folded in half
Begin your bracelet how you like. I'm using a Chinese Staircase Buckle.
Set Up for Step 1A:1234567887654321 where 2 is 'lightest' and 1 is 'darkest'. The first 'face' will be in colors 2, 3, and 4.
Set Up for Step 1B(Chevron): 1283746556473821
I'm doing a rainbow. Tie fks when working L to R and tie bks when going R to L.

Step by Step

Step 1

Step 1A

Take both color 1s and tie towards center, then tie them together then do the same with color 2.

Step 1B

You can also start like a regular chevron, until you have complete stripes of colors 1 and 2

Step 2

Now take color 3 and tie over the next six strings on both sides, do not tie over color 2.

Step 3

Color 4 gets tied over five strings
and then back over those same five strings.

Step 4

Pick up color 3 and go back over five strings, do NOT tie over color 4!

Step 5

Pick up color 2 and tie over the next five strings, do not tie over color 3 and 4.

Step 6

Tie the two color 1s together.

Step 7

Pick up color 2 and work back over the same five strings, color 1, and tie them together.

Step 8

Color 3 gets tied over six strings, and tied together.

Step 9

Pick up color 4 and go back to Step 3. See the face?

Step 10

Repeat Steps 2-9, working through each color, until desired length, ending with Step 2.
