Harder patterns

I want to work my way up to harder patterns with more strings. The highest number of strings I've used is 8. I tried a 10 string pattern once but got frustrated. But I was still new at the time with bracelet making.

What I always do is take the strings between my fingers, close to the knotted part, and move my fingers down the strings. Usually they will automatically be at the right order when I do that.

The patterns are also different in their difficulty; have a look at the difficulty-numbers in the pattern section and try to start with the easier ones.; the lower the number the easier the pattern..

Knotting in sections? Like going from left to right or up and down? What did you mean regarding strings of the same color? |

We have a few tutorials about knotting in sections, like this one

I've been doing all my bracelets horizontal in rows. Have I been doing it wrong? If so is it easy to learn to tie another way? |

I knot my patterns in rows. :) It's not wrong- though some people prefer doing it in sections.

Ok. I like the tutorial. If you want it go faster than I guess knot in sections diagonally. Would knotting diagonally in section if the pattern isn't like the one shown in the tutorial? |

When I started knotting patterns I started row-by-row too. I changed to knotting in sections after about three months and I never changed back to row-by-row. Only 1212-patterns (only fb- and bf-knots) are not really good for the section-knotting, but I still would knot those diagonally instead of row-by-row. For me, that's just easier and faster. But, as Allison said, it's a personal choice, there's no good way or wrong way. |

With knotting in sections does it matter if the knots in the pattern doesn't go diagonally? Hard to explain so would it be possible to post a pic of the pattern I am working on? Is uploading pics only for finished work? |
