stolen patterns on BraceletBook by Foz 9 years ago

hey guys! you are all well aware, I'm sure, of the ongoing issue of pattern-stealing by BraceletBook's users. a while ago it was sufficient for me to contact the admins with a list of patterns their users stole from our site to have them removed -- but alas, no longer.

apparently their focus is on protecting the thieves rather than respect the original creator, unless THE ORIGINAL OWNERS CONTACT THEM.

I sent them a list of patterns on May 8, and only just received an answer today. I'd like to ask all of you who own one (or more) of these patterns to contact the admins to tell them to (please) remove your pattern from their site. feel free to just copy and paste the two links, to let them know that you don't approve of their users posting stuff that's not theirs.

I HATE pattern thieves! That said, the truth is....While we are chasing after our stolen patterns, they are making bracelets, photos and new ways of getting on-line activity. You checking their NOOB site, to see if they stole your stuff, only gives them more "views". They want our clicks more than our patterns. We are letting them manipulate us this way. Radio icon "Howard Stern" proved that listeners that hated him listened TWICE as much as his FANS. We should be working together to improve this site and strengthen this community instead. no?

This is only the second time ever on their site for me, Matt. And this started because one of their users, CWillard, complained about a stolen pattern on our site. I don't think you have the right to complain if you're stealing patterns yourself. And I think the original creator of a pattern should decide whether to publish the pattern on another site or not.

Thank you Kamyk!

RE: stolen patterns on BraceletBook by Kamyk 9 years ago

To be honest that's the reason I don't use braceletbook, MOST of their normal patterns are stolen/duplicated from here, I can't agree with that so I don't give them "views".
It's not because of copying patterns but the idea of website itself. Stefan was first with this website about friendship bracelets in that specific form and pattern generator (Different form of website represent CoHa's website, mzocho, naramkypratelstvi, Nimue's etc). Braceletbook is based on exactly the same idea: normal and alpha patterns, search filtres, generator, to-do list as fav, tutorials, users photos and comments etc. Just wait for kumihimo section.
I guess people who visit it are younger kids who choose it because of features like adding friends, chat, easier alpha generator and smartphone app as well. So it looks like they want to have more features and because of lack of good content, they're getting it from us. In that case we can't be suprise that their moderators are blind when it comes to stealing content. It's pretty sad.

RE: stolen patterns on BraceletBook by Arismende 9 years ago

yeah, it is! - I created an account there and commented on my pattern and also asked the admins to remove it. If there are more copies to come, I feel I should have many of my patterns here rejected to protect my copyrights, which would be sad, but I see no other possibilities then...
