Variation 2

If you would like to make a fishtail one color instead, you can do the following:
Decide how thick you'd like the bracelet to be. I chose 10 strands 2 purple, 2 yellow, and 6 white. (If you like, you can take 1 purple, 1 yellow, and 3 white and fold it in half, but I do each string individually.) I chose a 3rd color so that I could tell which string I'm using, but you can also just have 2 colors i you'd like.

Step by Step

Step 1

Separate your strings into 2 equal groups with even colors on both sides.

Step 2

Take the color you would like to start with (In my case purple)from the left side and cross over all of the strings on the left side and group it with the right side (okay, so step 2 is very confusing, but it's basically a fishtail just like you would on hair or like in the tutorial.) For example if you had it set up like: PYWWW WWWYP, it would now look like: YWWW PWWWYP

Step 3

Do the same for the right side (So, now it's: YWWWP PWWWY) And there's sort of an "X" in the middle.

Step 4

Now here's where it's different than making it with more than one color and gets a little confusing. Instead of switching strings, your using the same one, so your going to take the purple that is now on the left side (The one that you just crossed over) and make it go underneath all of the strings on the left side so that it's sticking out from the back. (This is important so that it wraps around all of the strings) You'll do the same for the right.

Step 5

Take the string on the left side now and cross that same string OVER the strings and group it with the other side. (You're pretty much wrapping it around the strings and bringing it back.) It'll now look like YWWW PWWWYP (The purple closest to the middle being the one you were just using.) Then take the other purple from the right side and cross it over to make your X

Step 6

Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you get a couple X's and tighten (the less X's you need to tighten, the easier, but you can tighten whenever you feel comfortable or even after each one if you'd like.) To tighten just hold tight to your purples (Note: only tighten when they're on opposite sides) in one hand and the 2 groups in the other and slid the X's so they bunch up, then separate the purples into their correct groups and tug on the purple strings while keeping the groups solidly in one place to make the bracelet thinner.

Continue steps 4-6 until you're done with your first color.

Step 7

(Changing colors) Make sure the purples are held tight and close to their correct group and grab the yellow on the right side and bring it underneath the right group and bring it over the right group and bunch with the left (This has to be done tightly!) This is pretty much the wrapping around from before

Step 8

Do the same with the left side and continue making the X's then tightening.
Stay with the yellow until you're ready to switch again and then switch.

To end my bracelet, I tied the 2 groups together so the last X would stay tight.
Note: My pictures may all be mirrored, but it doesn't matter which side you choose to be first as long as you stay consistent.
