Introduction

This tutorial is supposed to teach you how to make a spiral Kumihimo friendship bracelets.

Materials

Kumihimo disk

You will need a Kumihimo disk. If you don't have a Kumihimo disk you can make your own with cardboard or dense foam board. Here is a link to the original tutorial by Stefan.

Strings

You will need 8 green strings and four yellow strings about 20 inches long(you can of course use any other color). To start, you need to bunch all strings together using an overhand knot or similar.

Setup strings

The second step is to mount the strings onto your kumihimo disc. Put the starting knot in the middle hole in the disc, and then put the green strings in slots 4, 5, 14, 15, 20, 21, 30 and 31. Put the yellow ones in slots 9, 10, 25 and 26.

Tying the bracelet

Step by Step

Step 1

Move the string in slot 21 to slot 29, like this:

Step 2

Move the string in slot 31 to slot 19:

Step 3

Move the string in slot 15 to slot 3:

Step 4

Move the string in slot 5 to slot 13:

Step 5

Turn the disc counterclockwise so the next group consisting of the yellow strings 9 and 10 are pointing up:

Step 6

Move the string in slot 26 to slot 8:

Step 7

Move the string in slot 10 to slot 24:

Step 8

Turn the disc counterclockwise so it will look like the initial setup(just upside down). You now have slot 17 in the top.

Step 9

Repeat steps 1-8 and continue until your bracelet (or keychain) is the desired Length.

Enjoy!
