Problem tying kumihimo 12-strand spiral bracelet

I’m following the tutorial exactly, but for some reason my bracelet is getting wider the longer I tie it, and the bracelet turns lumpy. I don’t know how to get the bracelet to look like the photos posted on the tutorial, is anyone able to help me? |

Maybe try pulling on the end of the bracelet a little or attaching a weight to it. |
