What is the best brand of embroidery floss? The kind I usually buy is cheap gets frayed.

I have DMC, and it seems to work.

I find anchor, DMC and Janlynn pretty good, Duchess on the other hand isn't consistent, it's either very good or frays very quickly and once has even snapped whilst stringing

I use one called loops & threads

One to avoid: I started on something called Prism. It was bought in a cheap bulk pack because I wanted to start off with a lot with out paying the price to DMC thread. The light colors all seemed to look alike (in general, the brand is poorly dyed) and I've had a problem with them snapping.

I once avoided DMC because the threads separated too easily but that problem was solved by knotting the ends before starting.
