I use tape and as I go along, I put more tap down and it secures it pretty well. I ran out of the good tape though and I'm stuck with this crappy Scotch tape that hardly sticks at all. What do you use? I need some ideas...

I've used a clipboard and a plastic container that had a snap on lid. Of course something was inside the container to place some weight in it. Sometimes I've used a safety pin on my old pants when there is a loop at the top of all my strings. Scotch tape has caused a lot of aggravation for me. But in the past I have used electric tape and duct tape. Or I asked my younger cousin to just hold it for a "little" while sometimes if I ran out of tape. haha.

I just use a safety pin. It works the best for me. (:

I have a folder that keeps all the patterns I've printed out.
When I want to make a bracelet, I take the sheet with the pattern out and put it on the front of the folder. Then I use a binder clip to hold the strings, the pattern, and the folder together so it's an easy way to work on bracelets while being able to easily refer to the pattern, and keep my other patterns in one place!

I used to use cardboard, and make a slit on the top for the main knot, then at the bottom put strings into a bunch of other little slots

I use a small or medium sided binder clip, and I either print the patterns out I use or same a the pattern and then put it on my ipod (Ipod touch) and there I can go under a drawing app and cross off the lines as I go.

if theres at least one loop, you can put it on your big toe:)

haha, thanks for the ideas. Shortperson13... that made me laugh. =] I have this reading lamp with a clip that I used when making them off of the computer screen and another clip on a binder for when I do them while watching TV. I also have a block of wood with two nails to hold alpha patterns when I make them.

I picked mine up at Michael's a couple of years ago and it's been a good stable platform to tie on, especially for car rides.

I use a clipboard to start it off and when I finish a few rows, I start taping it. This is because clips on cliboards stop holding your bracelet as tightly once the length increases and you can't make it your knots as hard anymore(I love making rock hard knots on my bracelets). Tape actually holds it down firmly in place so you can make knots as tight as you want. Other than that. A safety pin can work for small projects that are not too long yet.
