They look like alternating stripes, but they end up like a "v" pattern when horizontal, and they are made of four colors. When vertical, it looks like this:

Do you mean something like this: #5402 or a zigzag with each zigzag lind in one color?

Not really, more like #3663 , but four colors, and possibly a bit wider?

Both have the same structure: A few rows candystripe to one side, followed by a few rows candystripe to the opposite side. You can add or remove as many strings as you like, the structure stays the same. And the effect is created by the choice of colors.

Here is another example: #74558.
It has 8 strings. The first 8 rows are all forward knots, and the second 8 rows are all backward knots.
The given color pattern has 4 black strings and four red gradient strings (but the lightest one is always hidden), but other color choices are possible.
