Tips for ending a long bracelet by Rururong 6 years ago

I'm making an alpha bracelet that will look like this http://imgbox.com/ktUAdL24 and i think it will end up longer than what i usually make.

Usually i make around 12cm for the bracelet body and 5cm more for both ends with round braid. But with this pattern, i think it will end up around 17cm for the body alone... If i make the usual braid, 5cm for both ends, i think it will become pretty big.

I measure it by converting the into this size https://images2.imgbox.com/0a/fb/dOiUP2cc_o.jpg estimating 1 pixel as 1mm.

So i was wondering, is there any tips for ending a long bracelet?

A button and buttonhole will probably be the best solution.

Whoa how to make the buttonhole, tho?

The tutorial (( Closures )) Adding a button to the Bottom of a Bracelet or (( Embellishments )) Buttons!! has ideas about how to attach the button to the bottom of the bracelet.

The tutorial (( How to... )) Make a buttonhole with a shaped start shows how to make a button hole for a normal bracelet.

I have never done an alpha, so I am sort of guessing how you would do it on an alpha. I think you need to do some sort of string insertion on the last full row before the button hole starts so that you end up with two working strings.
When you get to the column where you want the button hole to be (i.e. the center line of the bracelet) one working string will get reflected back the way it came and the the other continues to the other side of the bracelet.
For the next several rows each working string will only go back and forth on its own side of the bracelet.
Once you have made the hole as many rows long as you want, then start taking one working string all the way across the bracelet, making sure to secure the end of the other working string.

Right... I think i need to add the other working string since i already made 2 rows with one working string. Thank you for the tips, guys! <3 but i think i also need some tips about how to seal the first end since i already made 2 rows a few days ago...

Right now, it looks like this. http://imgbox.com/n23gey3c please don't mind the messiness.

Easiest way is to cut the strings and glue them to the back, or sew them to the back.
