color palette hard to use by AAAAARIADNE 6 years ago

I really like the generator, but the color palette is hard for me to use. I have trouble finding colors and there are a lot of other colors that are basically identical.
A custom palette with a color bank would be great, or just a more intuitive arrangement of colors in the current boxes (rainbow order, for example).
The circles you have to click to open the palette are also very small, they would be easier to use if they were bigger or if you could just click anywhere on the tip of the thread.

I know this thread is old but I definitely agree!

I don't know if guys are aware but designing and programming site costs money and as far as I am aware this site support itself through donations and a spare time of its moderators.

So, if it bothers you, maybe you should do something about it. Just a thought. :)

I partly agree with you, Lila_Lazuli, but it is mainly a matter of time, not money, since there are ads on the site. We only have one webmaster, who works on the site in his spare time too. I, as a moderator, have no idea where the donations go......

RE: color palette hard to use by Lila_Lazuli 4 years ago

I thought because of this homepage call-to-action DONATE button, that there is a bigger money issue rather than time since usually where is the money there is the time. :)

I donated some money and that no idea where the donations go just upsets me a little bit. It's not some big sum of money since I really appreciate what this site have to offer but not knowing where money goes just don't sit right.

Maybe it's my fault that i didn't research this site enough to inform myself so I made uninformed payment. That being sad - Should I donate anymore or put things on hold until it's clarified?

I have always wondered about the donations myself. I am sure that initially, when the site started, it was needed to keep the site running. So I am sure that the intentions were right back then, and that the money really went to the site. But years ago the updates of the amount of donated money stopped. And no-one received the star as a ? thank you for donating ? anymore. We asked the webmaster, but didn?t really get an answer.
So, right now, I would not donate as long as that is not fixed. We changed webmaster, and I am not sure if the new webmaster is now in charge of the donations. If so, it still goes to the site, if not, I have no idea where it goes.

Is there a possibility for you to create new DONATE topic in Forum section which would be seen immediately upon opening the Forum tab, where you could inform users of this not so transparent situation? It's only fair for users to know.

Or that topic already exists and i somehow overlooked it?

Only the webmaster can do that. I?m sorry.

Obviously this would be up to the current webmaster, but they could make this website code public on a site like github. This way, other developers, like myself, could actually help with issues, rewrites, and coding new features. And the webmaster would only take in the code that they approve of as well, but it could be extremely helpful instead of trying to maintain/improve this whole site all on their own.

I realize this conversation is more about the donations, but mentioning how it's more time necessary than money to work on the website, I thought I could also help in my spare time. They don't have to do it alone. First thing to go could be the donate button until these questions are answered.

I hope our webmaster will give us his opinion about this :-)
