Keeping the edge straight with fb/bf edge ? by Lumeha 6 years ago

Hi !

When patterns have a one-colour edge using forward-backward and backward-forward knots, I have a hard time keeping the edge of the bracelet straight. It keeps looking a little wavy, and I am not sure why ? I don't seem to have the same problem when making a bracelet that don't have this kind of edge

Is there any tip to make sure my edge will be straight when doing a fb/bf edge ?

Yes: put a core-string inside the edge knots. I always do that :-)

Yes, we have alphabet patterns you can use.

Ahh, I just want to make sure I understand - by using a core thread, you mean you add another thread you always use as the basis of the fb/bf edge, in addition to the usual threads used for the knot ?

Yes, you always knot around two strings that way (on the edges), one out of the pattern, like usual, and an additional one . The core-string never makes a knot, it's only inside knots.

Okay, I understand ! Thanks ! I will use this next time I make a bracelet with this kind of edge then :) !
