Bracelet Aftercare by Rapt0r 7 years ago

What do you do to protect your bracelets and make them last longer?

I love that look of a freshly woven bracelet, but after a few wears some of my favourite ones (made of either Anchor or DMC thread) are getting a tiny bit fluffy. One that I gave to my partner (who wears it all the time) curled right up. What should I advise people in terms of aftercare and is there anything I can do to keep them fresh longer, before I give them away?

Friendshipbracelets are meant to wear out after a long time of wearing them.
But I get your point ;-) I only wear mine for a few hours, not the whole day long and not every day. But the one I gave to my husband (who wears it every now and then for a whole day) is still pretty good looking, not fluffy. I'm using cotton crochetyarn btw, not floss.

The only thing I can say is: Wash it by hand when it gets dirty, and maybe iron it a bit if it curls up.
Or use waxed cord or nylon instead of floss. That'll make it much more durable:-)

Thanks for the tips!
Is the crochet yarn much thicker?
I like the look of embroidery thread. I probably just have to accept that they won't stay pristine forever lol

The yarn I'm using the most is just a little bit thicker than floss.

I like to wash them while washing my hands. Pretend like it doesn't exist (while between your hands) and wash your hands normally. It cleans small and medium bracelets pretty well, and then lay them out on a fluffy towel.
