I am making the Maryland Flag Bracelet. I finished the first part. Does anyone know to attach the yellow and black to the red and white?

We have a tutorial for muticolored bracelets. The substitution method is usually the best way to add colors to an alpha-bracelet.
Since this pattern has more than 2 colors you can only knot it the other way if you have your base-strings doubled or tripled for the other colors. That is possible, but the bracelet will be thicker and the pattern less clean.
