Bumpy Alphas by Ukiedancer 7 years ago

Hey everyone! I'm having a problem when tying my alphas. Whenever I knot with a color that I added in, it gets all bumpy and doesn't lay flat. Then when I change to another color, the first knot of that color gets pushed down underneath the knot of the last color. What am I doing wrong and how can it be corrected? Thanks in advance!

Sometimes it solves itself when more rows are knotted. If you keep the tension right and the base-strings straight it should look better when there are more rows knotted under the 'bump'.
And it also helps to pull the string-ends on the back a bit. Sometimes it's just a knot that's a bit twisted and needs a bit of help to get the good side up again.

Tension is still the most important part!

Are you putting the new color over the old color btw? It sounds like you put your new string under the old one, which isn't like it should be....

Yes, I am putting my new color over the old. I mess with the tension a bit and see what happens. Thank you!
