MIXED KNOTS!!! (help) :0 by Biblio1500ad 7 years ago

There are so many awesome patterns I want to try but can't because they include mixed knots. I know mixed knots are SUPPOSED to work but every time I try to do one it comes out leaning towards one side or the other or twisting awkwardly (it looks awful) WHAT DO I DO someone pls explain how to get mixed knots to come out right.

Mixed knots used to give me trouble as well. Here is a tutorial as to how to make fbk and bfk knots. They are just like any other knots, you tie the string two times to make 1 knot, but with these you tie the strings with a forward and a backward. For example a forward-backward knot; the first time you tie it would be as if you would tie a forward knot, and then the second time you tie the strings, it would be for a backward knot. I hope I didn't confuse you. https://www.friendship-bracelets.net/tutorial.php?id=66

Basically, as you know all knots are made from 2 knots put together, so a forwards knot is 2 forwards knots etc. in a mixed know, e.g. forwards backwards, the first of the 2 knots that make up your knot will be forwards, then the next backwards. in a backwards forwards knot it would be the other way round. hope this helps!

Ty for the support, ik how to make a mixed knot but every time I do, they turn sideways idk how to make them not do that

Maybe you are tying them too tight? Sometimes a knot won't turn out right if you tie them too tight or too loose.

Maybe ur letting ur string points left or right like with the alpha patterns?

Or your strings are ending up on the wrong side of the knots? It might be easier for us to help you if you could show us a picture.
