Thread Material and final result by Chib 7 years ago

Well, since i've been asking some questions in this forum, let me make another...

I've been doing the #86227 pattern on a waxed thread i don't find it very good, i mean i'm doing everything right but the design of the bracelet looks different to the example, i don't know if it's because i'm doing wrong or the material of my thread it's not helping.

It's a little difficult to talk about it without showing so, where i can upload a picture for you to see ?

You can add a picture here (a general gallery): https://www.friendship-bracelets.net/tutorial.php?id=94 or directly to the pattern.

You can show us a picture here, with the BBCode. You need to have the picture uploaded somewhere, in jpg-format, and then you can put the [] hooks and the 'img' around that link.
Tinypic is a possibility for uploading.

Patterns can change a lot by picking other colors than the original colors. But also, waxed thread has to be pulled really tight. It's not the best material to start with. It can be used, but it's hard to work with when making friendshipbracelets.

I just saw you uploaded a picture. I've transferred it to the pattern, that's where it belongs.

It looks like you're doing fine, but some knots are 'flipped'. Try pulling the string that you knot onto tight, to avoid flipping. A flip-knot shows the wrong color because the strings sort of switch places.

Hello Kleinevos and Allison, i've uploaded the picture, what do you think ?

It's a lot different to the pattern design, maybe 'cause of the thread i don't know, but i thought it's not clear to see the bracelet and see the pattern in it, what do you say ?

I don't know if i'm able to post links but here it is :

Did you read my comments above?

I can still tell it's the same pattern. And like Kleinevos said, the knots (esp. the ones in the centre) are kind-of flipped. The outer edges look like they are knotted better though.

Yeah, sorry kleinevos , i didn't see the second one, posted not knowing that you saw the picture. Flipped knots huh ? Gonna try fixing that and i've chosen these waxed thread because it is more resistant.

Thank you girls for guiding me, and sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language xD

You have to be careful that when you tie the "current" knot very tight, that you don't "flip" a knot on the previous row. If a string you are using in the current knot is the "outside" string in the knot in the previous row, you can accidentally pull it so tight that it becomes the "inside" string and the other string shows up on the outside.
To prevent this you can try holding the adjacent strings when you are tightening the "current" knot to prevent the previous knots from flipping.

If you feel a "pop" when you are tightening a knot, this is a sign that you might have flipped a knot in the previous row. To fix it, just pull on the string that is supposed to be on the inside of the flipped knot (and relax the outside string) and it should flip back into place. If you don't do this immediately and you keep knotting, then you will probably have to untie some knots to get back to a point where you can fix it.

^Good job explaining it! That's happened to me, but it's hard to explain.
