Help on #89185 by Kuonanouk 8 years ago

I want to make this bracelet, but I can't figure out how to start. Normally i make a buckle at the beginning, but i don't know how to do that here because the start is asymmetric. Can anyone help me please?

There are a few things you can do:
- Start with braids instead of a buckle. That's the easiest way :-)
- Double the strings that are even, just like you're used to. The other, single, strings can be included in the buckle, but cut of on one end. It's also explained in our tutorial for the larkshead knot buckle

There are 10 stings in the pattern, so each side of the buckle needs 5 strings.
One side has A A B C C and the other has B B C C B.

One of the B strings and both of the C strings will go all the way through the buckle. one side of the buckle needs two A strings and the other side needs two additional B strings.

Cut 1 double length A string and 2 double length B and C strings (5 double length strings in total)

Take the A string and fold it in half and hold the end like a loop. Thread one of the B strings half way through the loop. Set this down with both A strings to one side and both B strings to the other.

Find the mid point of the other strings and lay two of them down so that their centers line up with where the A and B strings are hooked together.

Make the first lark's head knot with the remaining string right on top of where the strings are joined and make the buckle as normal.

Another alternative would be to start knotting at row 6 where there are the same number of strings of each color on both halves of the bracelet.
