Border Brother crosses? by Lowjack 8 years ago

Does anyone know how to make simple crosses with string like shown? I know it's not a bracelet per se, but the necklace part is kinda like a long spiral bracelet...kinda:)
I got this one from a friend who got it in jail from a border brother who I'm told are quite talented at making these crosses. I just don't want to have to go to jail to find someone who's proficient at turning these out. Probably out of this sites specialty as I know it's made with knots just way different than the 4 knots that bracelets use mainly.
anyways if you can help me find out how I'd be so grateful. Thanks LJ

There's still no working link.

Is this what you mean? It looks like the boondoggle knot. If you search for 'paracord cross' on YouTube you'll find tutorials for the cross.

that is it exactly. Sorry about the links but those are the crosses that I was referring to. How you make them? Did you do those? Because if so, you are the exact person I was hoping would answer my post. Little help? A video would be the best. A written tutorial would be second best. But I'll take any link as being the shizzle. Talk to me?

I just googled this image because I was curious. I've never made them myself. I also haven't found any tutorials, only tutorials on YouTube for a cross without the heart around it.
But I can try to figure it out. It'll take some time though :-) And I'm sure there are different ways possible so if I make one it will probably not be this exact same design :-)
I'll see what I can come up with.

I almost finished one. The way I'm knotting this is:
Use box-knot, also called boondoggle. Start at the short sides of the cross, attach them to knot top and bottom parts. This is just like in all of the YouTube videos.
Then: Add two strings at the top, knot both ways with the two new strings and two strings from the top of the cross. Attach them all together at the bottom of the cross.

Instead of the box knot you can also braid it as a kumihimo. I can put some pictures here if you like.

This is mine:

yes I do like and your really talented to be able to just pick up an idea of someone elses and produce or reproduce it on a whim like this. Are you talking about the paracord cross videos on youtube? I'll be trying to do this but I'm not as good as you are for sure. I need practice. Did you use any kind of frame to make the heart shape or just knot it in the heart shape? thanks again.

Yes, I meant the paracord videos. The heart shape doesn't have a frame, it just stays in that shape by itself. I'm knotting really tight :-)
