HELP! by HanaM13 8 years ago

Hi, I am a beginner at friendship bracelets, and I can make a perfect candy stripe bracelet, but of I make a chevron bracelet and I KNOW I am following all the steps, all the knots look horrible! the hole thing is all stringy and full of holes! experts what am i doing wrong?

A chevron is basically two candystripes attached in the middle. Without a picture of your bracelet I can't really say what's wrong. Maybe you're just not knotting tight enough?

Hello. Your problem might have to do with the tightness of your knots and making sure that you pull the knot tight up to the one next to it or above it. If you knot in rows, it might also be helpful to knot in sections; meaning diagonally rather than straight across one by one. I hope this helps solve your problem.

Are you making the chevron with the point up or down? If you are knotting row by row, then tie downward chevrons (fk on the left & bk on the right) from the edges twords the middle of the bracelet. Tie the middle knot of the row last.
For upwards chevrons, start with the center knot and work twords the edges.
This will help keep you from pulling out the knot out in the previous row when you tighten the knot in the current row.

Also I spent lots of time today practicing perfecting my chevron, I focused on making the knots as tight and even as possible, now my chevrons look great! :D
