INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS/WINTER SWAP by kleinevos (moderator) 9 years ago

Hello everyone, I've decided to host an international swap again :-)

You'll send me a number of bracelets, and I'll swap them with bracelets other people send me. You could end up with a bracelet from anywhere in the world!

The theme is Christmas/winter.
Think about snow, snowflakes, snowman, stars in a dark night, Christmas-candles, Christmas-trees, warm cozy fires with hot chocolate and cookies, deer, polar bears, etc.

You could use colors like blue, white, black, grey, purple, a little fire-orange maybe, or Christmas-red and -green.

There's a number of rules I want you all to be aware of. Note that I've changed some of the rules for this swap, mainly to make swapping a little easier for myself ;-)

1. Due date for getting my address and getting your bracelets sent in to me is December 10th , especially if you're in the US.
I live in The Netherlands, so it will take longer for your bracelets to arrive with me if you're from the States.
I would like to have all bracelets swapped and sent out again by December 17th. I hope they will arrive at their final destination before Christmas.

I will allow no more than 20 participants, unless you are able to send me stamps or euros for the postage of the swap-bracelets. Since we didn't have more than 20 participants for the previous swaps, you don't have to worry too much about not being able to join this swap ;-)

2. No chinese staircase, chevron, candy stripe, vertical wave, leaves, braided leaves, wrap bracelets etc. please. Zolino and double-double wave are fine. You can also use some shaping, but no beads please ( unless it's paper beads ) because they will make the envelope heavier and therefore more expensive to mail out.

3. Bracelets must have 5-5,5 inches of knotted area and at least 5 inches of braid, clasp, etc. for tying onto ones wrist. Therefore, it should measure at least 10 inches in total length. If your bracelet(s) do not meet these specifications, I will send them back to you and you will not be participating. Just because they fit your wrist does not mean they will fit others! 5 inches is the smallest wrist size I've heard of, and 9 is the largest. In order for your bracelet to fit anyone elses wrist, it must meet these specifications.
*If your bracelet is way too big, you can always tie a knot part way through the braid and cut it after, in order to be closer to your wrist size.

4. The bracelets will be divided into groups, based on (base-)string-amount, this time!
I'll swap your bracelet(s) with other bracelets that are in the same group. I don't mind if you send in a bracelet with a few more strings than the group mentions, but you might get back a 16-stringer when you've send me a 20-stringer, for example.

GROUPS :

12-14 strings for normals or two-colored alphas
9-11 strings for multicolored alphas

16-18 strings for normals or two-colored alphas
12-14 strings for multicolored alphas

22-26 strings for normals or two-colored alphas
17-20 strings for multicolored alphas

30-34 strings for normals or two-colored alphas
23-26 strings for multicolored alphas

Kumihimos or tube-bracelets, with a minimum of 24 strings for the kumihimos or 12 strings for the tube-bracelets. No candy-stripes please.

-No more than 2 bracelets per categorie per person. No more than 1 bracelet per person for catogorie nr.4 ( 30-34 strings) No more than 4 bracelets in total per person.

5. Once you have finished your bracelets, send me a PM with pattern-numbers and amount of strings of the finished bracelets. Do not PM me to get my address before your bracelets are completed!

6. I will be posting individual pictures of the bracelets sent in. This is a secret-Santa type event, so the people you get your bracelet from will be a mystery. Therefore, please don't post a picture of the bracelet(s) you made. Once I have received all the bracelets I will be taking pictures and uploading them to the "Unknown" account. When you have received your bracelet please go to the corresponding photo and let use know that you got it so the person that made it can let you know :). Once the person has said that they were the one to make it the photo will be transferred to them.

7. If you have any questions after reading all the rules of the swap please feel free to send me a PM.

8. Happy knotting, everyone !
