Hmm ... I know exactly what you're saying on this one, I still haven't found a good way to do a bucklet start with the odd strings either. Not sure what Chi meant by pairing it with other strings though ... will have to play round with this one a bit. Maybe someone could post a vid on how to add odd number strings please? :)

yes yes yes !!!! this is my exact problem. I'm tying number 1594 and it requires 3 of each color. I just can't figure out how to start it with the macrame loop at the top. HELP!!! I'll be sad if I can't do it.

I have solved it. You take the odd number string, add like a foot of string to it an then tie a chinese staircase around the even number of threads until you create a loop and then you start your bracelet pattern

I did finally start mine. I just doubled the length of the strings (minus 1 of each color for my pattern). Then I did the macrame knot for a little while in the middle. Then I basically tied the rest of the threads onto the macrame knot. It's fudged a little bit but hay- it works.
I'll look into your chinese staircase method and see if that would work for me too! THANKS for the info!!! XD

ah. If the pattern I used had only one extra thread, that would work. I have 6 colors. Each color is needed 3 times. So I can double the length for each of them to make 2 threads, then I'll have 1 of each color left that I need to attach.

I'm not understanding the answers, I'm afraid. It would be awesome if someone knew of a video or tutorial for this situation where the pattern has a single strand of one of the colors... (?)
