Does it bother anyone else? by _HakunaMatata_ 9 years ago

It just really bothers me for some reason when people wear the bracelet or take a picture of the bracelet on the backside like it's the frontside of the bracelet. I was just wondering if it bothered anyone else?

More than half of the World wears them that way. Some patterns look better one way and some look better the other. I like both sides and, including the last one, I have made 10 reversible bracelets. Half of them have "flipped" parts to take advantage of the nice textures on the other side. On one side (our front side) you can only creates "dots". With the other side you can create lines and columns. :)

It bothers me a lot Hakuna :P I don't know why people think the back is the front - I don't know why anyone would choose the back over the front if they didn't know better?!

I just much prefer the front, it's neater and shows off the pattern.

Unless you have the skills (matt ;) ) to make fancy things happen on the back hehe

It bothers me too, but I also agree with Matt. The backside can be very nice, only the fb- and bf-knots are the knots that make the backside look messy.
I was planning on doing a pattern backside up, accept for those knots. I think that can be very nice... :-)

Thanks :D The trick is that the "Back" side is where ALL is revealed and there are no secrets. ;) The "Front" side of my bracelets, the structure of my knotting and my tension all got 3x better after I learned to read the "Back" side. Look at the "I" or "T" shape structure on the back of a plaid pattern and you'll see where the "Relief" technique comes from. Even though the one I'm doing now is totally normal, I'm still constantly checking and adjusting the back as I go. It helps. :)

it bothers me too because, usually, the back side of a bracelet, especially the alpha bracelets, looks awful! Sometimes, however, I wear them backside BUT I don't do that on purpose it just flips itself :P Seriously, when I do many things with my hand, the bracelet just automatically flips ;)

It doesn't bother me in photos. I think of them as a kind of process picture. You can see the way the knots go much better from the back and even if I personally wouldn't wear them that way, it is still cool to look at. The backs of alphas are cool too! Especially with complex and multicolored patterns. It gives you a window into how the knotter mad their project.

I think that in few patterns back side can show real skill of the knotter - that he/she can do it really neatly and well and it can be worn also as back side - but in the bigger half of the patterns it just looks as a mess :)))

i agree with @Elabra ;)

it really gets on my nerves seeing the backside facing foward, ithe only bracelets i ever thought looked good like that was the peruvian wave and double wave.
