12-12? by lilemur 9 years ago

Hey there, newbie idiot here, I'm really confused. Can someone please explain the difference between a 12-12 pattern and a repeating pattern? I have no bloody idea, and it's making me mad.

Most obliged if anyone answers,

cheers!

Repeating patterns are patterns which have the same colours at the end as at the start. An example of a NOT repeating pattern is #28.
1212 are based on fb (forward-backward) and bf (backward-forward) knots, like #1479.

So Neves, all 12-12 patterns ONLY have FB and bf knots?

Yes, exactly. Actually, if I were to divide normal patterns into a few categories, those would be:
- Plaid patterns (one row has only fw knots, second only bw knots)
- 1212 patterns (only fb and bf knots)
- arrowheads (everything somewhat similar to #28)
- Diamonds and chevrons
- Candy stripes, scrambled candy stripes, etc.
