How long should I cut my string?

Hi! I was wondering if there was an average string length to cut when beginning a bracelet. I find that I cut the strings too short and my bracelets come out too small for anyone to wear. I was wondering if there was maybe a size chart or something to help me make them the right sizes? Thanks!

Personally I like to cut mine long so I have plenty to work with. Unless I'm doing a bracelet over 20 strings I generally cut them to about 48 inches. For bigger bracelets I usually add about a foot. |

I agree with Puddingtoe, I usualy start with 130 cm and I always have some string left when I'm finished. So about 120 cm will do.

Here is my trick. I take the end of the strings between my thum and index of the left hand and a spread my arms strech on each side (so, 2 arms length + the body width).

I usually do about 90cm however, it depends on the pattern/amount of strings and the person you are making it for. |

This has helped me allot i wonder when you give measurements do you mean befor or after the strings folded? I start my braceletts with a loop at the top so is 80cm mean tht i would need to cut and fold 160cm if im using a pattern with 2 strings of that coulour? Thanks. |

Yes, measurements are for a single string, so you need 2 times the amount if you want to fold your strings to make a loop. |
