My main string is running low and I am not entirely to do after it gets to short! Thanks so much in advance! :)

Well, do you have another skein or length of the thread you used for the background? Of so, substitute it in (like in a multicolour alpha)

I don't know if I undarstand you well but... You're making alpha bracelet and you want to "switch" your main-string to longer one, correct?
When I'm making alpha, I always have "border" of background colour: 2 strings for background colour - many strings for pattern(letters) - 2 strings for background. One of the border-string I cut very long...
When I want to replace short main-string I'm making forward-backward knot on the longer one. After that main-string is string for border - longer string is now main-string.
(It would be easier if my english was better).
You can also replace main-string like in the multi-colour alpha technique.

If you're using a clipboard or something like that, clip the longer string behind the bracelet and just start knotting. It takes practice not to pull the string out, but when you get the first few knots in, you should be fine.
