I can't seem to accomplish a downward knot. Every video I watch doesn't explain how to do it. Can someone please make a video or pictures showing step by step how to do a downward knot. Please.

Downwards knots are just forward or backward knots, depending on which direction you're going. If you're working left to right with your background string, you'' be tying forward knots. When you get to a letter colored knot, you'd tie a backwards knot. Also, this tutorial,Alpha/Letter Patterns, has some very clear diagrams you can check out that might help.

did you look at this tutorial?
what to do if you're making left downward knot:
1. make a forward knot with your background string and letter string.
2. put down the letter string on the left.
3. pick up the background string on the right.
4. make another forward knot with the background string and the next letter string (repeat 1-3).

when you reach the end of this row, your background string should be on the far right. i'm not sure if this is correct, but to make the next row, i make right downward knots like this:
1. pick up the letter string that's next to your background string.
2. make a forward knot, so that the letter string goes to the right, and your background string is on the left.
3. repeat.

the left and right just indicate whether the letter string goes to the left or the right. all you're doing is making forward knots or backward knots, but the background string should always make it from one side of the bracelet to the other.

sorry if this is confusing.. this is just the way i make alpha bracelets, i could be wrong but these steps work for me.

this video might also help:

oops, i made a mistake >.< ok this might be clearer:

making a row from left to right:

for a background knot:
1. make a forward knot with your background string and letter string.
2. put down the letter string on the left.
3. pick up the background string on the right.
4. make another forward knot with the background string and the next letter string.

for a 'letter' knot
1. pick up the letter string next to your background string in your right hand.
2. pick up the background string in your left hand.
3. make a backward knot so that the letter string goes to the left and the background string is goes to the right.
* at the end of the row, the background string should be on the far right*

making a row from right to left:

for a background knot:
1. pick up the background string in your right hand.
2. pick up the letter string next to it in your left hand.
3. make a backward knot so that the background string goes to the left and the letter string goes to the right.

for a letter knot:
1. pick up the letter string in your left hand.
2. pick up the background string in your right hand.
3. make a forward knot so that the letter string goes to the right and the background string goes to the left.
* at the end of the row, the background string should be on the far left*

it's basically the same thing prpldrgnfr said, but i also tried to describe how to make a row from left to right. i hope this makes sense >.<

That video helped a lot. What I was doing was in her case when I was making the word knots I was pulling the yellow too tight and it was making the string noticeable. Thanks. :)
