Send PM		i just realized making 1212 patterns is like making a 2 color alpha, except you're using fbk and bkf knots instead of forward and backward knots. substituting the colors doesn't seem that hard, i could always follow these methods for alpha patterns:

but there has to be a way to tie this as a normal pattern. i'm working on the pattern map now. i'll upload it later and try to figure out a way to include a different color background. and if that fails, i'm adding the yellow background right away!

i found this other thread that someone made about substituting in a normal pattern.



just maaybe if i treat this like a 1212 pattern, with a yellow background and brown lines, i can pair the yellow and blue strings together. then whenever i want to make a blue knot, i'll just use the blue string instead of yellow.



so it ends up being a 123123 pattern haha. but with 1212 patterns it seems like if you want to make an 'a' knot, you go in one direction, and if you want to make a 'b' knot, you go in the other direction. and the knots just switch from row to row. but if i want to make a different color knot, why not just substitute 'a' with 'c'? it seems simple enough.

first i'll try to make the normal pattern, then if that doesn't work, i'll try manipulating the 1212 pattern to add more than two colors. this will be challenging, and fun!
