How to avoid bunched knots in the begining when using a buckle? by ashley2323 12 years ago

I've seen tons of pictures on here where people start out with a buckle, and the knots are basically PERFECT right from the beginning--straight, and everything is nice and flat for the buckle.

I understand that it has to do with the order the strings are in, but how do you control that to get such neat results? Sometimes it seems impossible to get them in the right order because of the nature of the pattern.

For example, look at this (which is what I produced) from this pattern


I want to know how people make it look perfect like say this:
