January US Swap by Carrie (moderator) 1 year ago

Hello everyone! I have decided to host monthly US swaps. In these swaps, bracelet makers from around the country will send me their bracelets. In turn, I will send that bracelet to someone else who sent me a bracelet, so everyone gets bracelets made from a different user! Here's a few things you should know:

1. Everyone must have their bracelets sent by the 14th of January. They do not have to be at my house by that date, just sent by that date. Participants must PM me once they are finished on the 13th with the pattern numbers they used in order to get my address.

2. No chinese staircase or chain knot bracelets please! Kumihimo, alpha, or normal patterns are all accepted, as are leaves bracelets, and patterns not on the site (such as Marina Ulmer's patterns).

3. Bracelets MUST fit an 8 inch wrist as well as a 5 inch wrist. This typically means that you will need 5 inches of knotted area and 5 inches of ties. 8 inches total length WILL NOT BE ENOUGH. Just because they fit your wrist does not mean they will fit others! 5 inches is the smallest wrist size I've heard of, and 9 is the largest. In order for your bracelet to fit anyone elses wrist, it must meet these specifications.
*If your bracelet is way too big. You can always tie a knot part way through the braid and cut it after in order to be closer to your wrist size.

4. You may send more than one bracelet. There are no string number requirements. However, I'm going to try to make the trade as even as possible, so if you made 2, 8 string bracelets, you will probably only get 1, 16 string bracelet in return.

5. Different from the international swaps, you will need to send a self addressed envelope with postage on it for me to send you more bracelets. A 44 cent or forever stamp is necessary on the envelope to me and the envelope I'll be using to send the bracelets to you in, but to ensure they don't get lost, I recommend 64 cents of postage on each one.

6. There is no participant limit. You do not need to let me know beforehand if you are entering, only when you need my address after all of your bracelets are completed. When you PM me for my address, I'll need to know your pattern numbers or how many strings are in your tutorial bracelet.

7. I'll be posting individual pictures of the bracelets sent in. This is a secret-santa type event, so the people you get your bracelet from will be a mystery. Therefore, don't post a picture of your bracelet until after the swap is finished, unless you don't want an candid comment on your picture from the person who received it. Comment on the bracelet you made in order for me to transfer the picture to you.

8. PLEASE no yarn! Yarn makes envelopes too thick and I don't have the money for the extra postage.

Thanks for coordinating this whole thing, it is a nice opportunity. :) Good thing the bracelets are made for small wrists and big wrists because my wrist is only 5 and a half inches!!! :) Thanks, hopefully I get my bracelet(s) done in time :)
