What do you use to hold down your bracelet when you make it? by bbydoll_kirby 14 years ago

Right now I've been just pining them to my pants with a safety pin, but with the more complicated patterns it gets really hard. Or sometimes I don't tie the bracelet until the end to make ends for it.
So for when I don't want to tie the bracelet right away, what should I use?

you could make a knot with all the threads (that's easily undone) - leaving enough thread to make braids or a macrame ending - and still pin them to your pants with a safety pin. If you are making a gbracelet that is really wide, then just divide your threads in hald and make two big knots, using two safety pins and pinning them close to each other.

I use a clipboard. I used to swear by the safety pin to my pants method, but the clipboard is so much nicer on my back. It also makes bigger patterns much easier.

My jeans were really used after a while :-) So now I use an old sweat band (like tennis players use, for example) and put that around my legs. Never thought about using a clipboard. That's a good idea! Thanks.

I use a clipboard. It has two pocket which I can put unfinished bracelets in. I carry it with me almost everywhere. It's not to big and easy to use

How do you keep the clip board from moving when you pull the knots tight?

I just tape the end to a table and sit down and tie the whole bracelet. It is easy that way.

Mine sits still in my lap. I was really worried it'd move a lot, but I started using it a week ago. The clipboard doesn't move, and my bracelets come out much nicer. It's also easier to replace threads with a clipboard.

i loosely knot the end of it for the first two or three layers then undo the knot so i can do whatever i want to the ends of them.
i also use a clip board, its so much easier since i can take it anywhere i want.
hope this helps!!
