Hello! I just got a message saying that patterns #64 and #65 are like swastikas and should be deleted for that reason. What do you think? Here are direct links to the patterns:

these are not natzi swastikas so i think they shouldn't be deleted... i'm an archaeologist and these are solar symbols that you can find all over prehistory stuff and i made one of those patterns not to represent natzi stuff (which i totally despise and sentence) i did it for my archaeology project... that's why i'm not for deleting it b

but from the other side most people don't know real meaning of swastikas and difference between natzi swastika and hindi swastika for example...

i think you should keep them but make sure you dont have them in nazi colors or anything in pictures. they are close to swastikas but not close enough that i feel offended or anything

I thought they looked like swastikas the first time I saw them, but then I took a second look and decided they weren't.

Well, the overall effect is that of swastikas, although the middle part is not the joining of the two axes as in the nazi symbol. Still, the first impression is the same, so I'd say that deleting them can't be wrong, just in case.

I think most peoples thoughts wander to swastikas because they don't know anything about these solar symbols in archeology as wilwarin tells us about. It's easier to relate to swastikas.

I do not see them as nazi swastikas. Not solar symbols either before I got to know about the solar symbols :)

Still I feel pity about the poor girl that wrote 'Please remove the swastikas...' in a PM in the guestbook... I'll think about it.

Of course it's true that the nazis sort of 'borrowed' the swastika from more ancient cultures - cultures they deigned below their own, btw. Still it's true that swastikas - and any other similar designs - are overshadowed by their use by the nazis. Thus, I'd be rather careful with any sun-symbols looking even remotely like the swastika used by Hitler and his henchmen.

the meaning of swastickas were screwed bup by the nazis. the original meaning was to mean peace, happiness, etc. but, the nazis began to use it and gave it a bad reputation.

yeah..as the first dude say, they are solar signs. the natzi swastikas join in the middle, as you can see..in the patterns shown there..they don't . so it's a solar sign. no natzi thing. i'm a jew so i can tell this things. school teaches well.
